Convention Center
Office Associate III

The Roland E. Powell Convention Center is seeking a qualified Office Associate to perform a variety of tasks and services. Primary functions will include support for the Administrative, Operations and Event staff. Duties will include special projects, primary contact for visitors and vendors, and Box Office sales. Looking for a self-starter, efficient, productive individual that works well in a team environment. Requirements include excellent communication and customer service skills along with intermediate to advanced proficiency in office technology including MS Office and Outlook. Education is a minimum of high school graduate with some college preferred. Possess a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a professional, customer driven, administrative environment. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 to 4:30 with occasional weekend and holiday work required. Minimum salary is $27,020 plus benefits.

Position Description
City Manager

The Mayor and Council of Ocean City, Maryland, one of the East Coast’s premier seashore resort communities, invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of City Manager. Ocean City, with a year round population of 7,100 and a summer population which grows to 335,000 during peak periods operates under the Council-Manager form of government with seven part-time council members elected at large to staggered four-year terms and a part-time Mayor elected at large every two years. The City Manager, appointed by the Council, manages the daily operations of the Town, develops the Town’s annual budget request, implements Council approved policy and serves as the Town’s Chief Financial Officer.

Ocean City provides an expanded range of well-developed services to care for the community and the annual influx of visitors to the Town and operates with an adopted FY 2012 operating and capital budget of $73.8 million and a full-time staff of 515 that grows to 1,400 during peak summer periods. Requirements for the position include a Master's degree in public or business administration, finance, planning or a related field and ten years related public sector experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate’s past experience must show a high level of understanding of the operations and challenges of a community with a tourism-based economy and interest and success in a range of areas including: managing budgets, delivering high quality services efficiently, redevelopment and revitalization, working with and understanding the needs of existing businesses, working effectively with a variety of community based groups and building Council and community consensus. A progressive record of strong professional, administrative leadership and developing high performance organizations is an important consideration. ICMA Credentialed Managers are preferred and encouraged to apply. The salary for the position is negotiable, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience and is supplemented by an excellent benefits package. Residency within the Town of Ocean City is required within a negotiated period of time.

Position Description
Convention Center Director

Ocean City, Maryland’s Roland E. Powell Convention Center is seeking an experienced Convention Center Director to lead the Town’s modern 250,000 square foot bay front facility.

The facility is in the midst of a 32,000 square foot expansion to be completed Fall 2012. Additionally, a 1,200-seat auditorium project will provide a state-of-the-art multi-use facility for the entertainment of the community and facility users.

Working closely with various businesses and community organizations, the Director operates with wide latitude of judgment and leadership under the administrative review of the City Manager. The successful candidate must have six years of experience in directing and managing the operations, marketing, sales and project management of a convention center, or a similar public assembly facility; familiarity with booking entertainment events; and possess a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, or a related field. JOB TITLE/RATE DESCRIPTION

Camp Horizon Day Camp Counselors

6 Positions $11.06/hour

Responsibilities include scheduling, planning, and implementing activities involving all aspects of recreation including sports, games, arts and crafts, drama, dance, and nature activities for children 5-12 years. Also included are report and schedule preparation and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be dedicated, enthusiastic, hard working, creative individuals who love working with children. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Those with or working toward a degree in Recreation, Education, or a related field are desired. Applicants must be available to work June 11 through August 3. Camp program runs for seven weeks, Monday through Friday, beginning June 18. Position falls under the direct supervision of the Camp Director. Forty (40) hours per week with limited overtime opportunities. Deadline for applications for counselor is February 29, 2012.
