BICYCLE, MOPED & SCOOTER REGISTRATION
The Ocean City Police Department offers a bicycle, moped and scooter registration program for all residents of Ocean City.
All riders/owners are encouraged to register their bicycles, scooters and mopeds as a deterrent to crime and to promote safety and accountability of these valuable items. This registration program is free of charge and all registration information is stored electronically for future reference.
Unfortunately, bicycles are sometimes lost by young children or stolen. Stolen bicycles, mopeds and scooters are most often used only on a temporary basis and abandoned after a short period of time.
Each year the Ocean City Police Department receives numerous calls concerning abandoned bicycles, mopeds and scooters or officers find them while on patrol. The items are taken into the custody of the Department for safe keeping and later turned over to the Property Section for disposition.
In most cases, the Department does not have a police report on file that has insufficient information to identify the owner of the lost or stolen bicycle, moped or scooter. In order to help identify you as the owner, the Department offers free bicycle, moped and scooter registration for Ocean City residents.
Registration is quick and easy. It takes just a few minutes to record your personal information along with the identifying characteristics of your bicycle, moped or scooter. These include the make, model, color, style and serial number. We will also provide you with a small registration sticker to affix to the underside of the frame of your bicycle, moped or scooter. This sticker has an independent identification number and the name of our Department. This is very useful in cases where bicycles, mopeds and scooters are taken outside of Ocean City and are recovered by another police department. With the registration sticker attached, any police department that finds your bicycle will know to contact the Ocean City Police Department for ownership information.
